Resolution time again
Maybe I can resolve to learn to spell correctly and compose sentences and paragraphs correctly? No. Can't do that. That would be insensitive to all the people who graduate from high school and college and can't read or write.
Maybe I can resolve to stop using incoherent arguments when attacking politicians. No. Can't do that. That would be insensitive to all the incoherent politicians who are incapable of thinking or using logical arguments when spewing forth their press releases and attempts at legislation.
Maybe I can resolve to write funnier rants. No. I can't do that. It would be insensitive to more capable writers who actually get paid for writing.
Well, I can't think of any New Year's resolution now, but maybe I can think of something by next year.

It seems to me that pregnant women should be forced to participate in these drug studies. This would make the drug studies doubly effective. You could temporarily damage the health of the women, and potentially permanently damage the health of the unborn children.

I say not being used, because if the new security measures get used, I would think that someone might notice what they are. I would also like to know, why, the government was able to instantly implement new procedures to protect airlines and passengers, that they couldn't be bothered with implementing before the most recent bomb attack?

So. I have a modest proposal for Barack Hussein Obama to increase his ratings in the polls without actually doing anything to fix any of the problems he is creating. Since no matter what he does is acceptable to the Democrats, maybe Barack Hussein Obama can work to make sure that no Democrats have jobs. Then, if all the jobs that got taken away from the Democrats are given to the Republicans, maybe Barack Hussein Obama's poll numbers might go up.

Plan to sell piece of State Compensation Insurance Fund collapses
Our incompetent California State government is at it again.
Rather than looking for long term cuts to spending, they continue to look for short term boosts of income.
The State of California has sold so many bonds, that their bond rating is going down. If the bond rating gets much lower, the State of California might be the first state to turn their bonds into junk bonds, making them sell for so much less than face value that they would be better off going to loan sharks for cash.
Since selling California bonds has become so unattractive, another way for the state to generate short term income, and long term losses, is sell any assets that have not already been mortgaged. Even though the government seems to hate private business, and does everything they can to prevent business from thriving in this state, they are now willing to sell whatever part of the government they can to private business.
The State if California recently tried to sell off part of the State Compensation Insurance Fund. Unfortunately for them, an honest politician (normally a contradiction in terms) sued the state to prevent this.
If the state sells assets, some part of this money is supposed to flow into the state treasury. When a politician accepts bribes to perform illegal activities, no part of that money goes into the state treasury. So wouldn't it be more profitable to sell politicians? The typical politician is not worth much. And the typical politician can be sold many times to different people for different causes.
Which gives me an idea.
As long as the State of California is considering selling assets they hold in sacred trust for the residents, maybe they can find something else of value to sell? How about selling political offices? Most politicians are corrupt, so why not let the state get a little of the money that the politicians normally grab for themselves?
Or how about selling votes? Votes for dollars? As long as there are reporting requirements for who is paying for the votes, we might actually find out what companies and individuals want what laws passed. Which would finally get us some kind of honesty out of the legislature.
If we find some day that California does sell votes for money, don't blame me. I am sure the politicians could have figure this out on their own.

The typical politician is not worth much. And the typical politician can be sold many times to different people for different causes.
Which gives me an idea.
As long as the State of California is considering selling assets they hold in sacred trust for the residents, maybe they can find something else of value to sell? How about selling political offices? Most politicians are corrupt, so why not let the state get a little of the money that the politicians normally grab for themselves?
Or how about selling votes? Votes for dollars? As long as there are reporting requirements for who is paying for the votes, we might actually find out what companies and individuals want what laws passed. Which would finally get us some kind of honesty out of the legislature.
If we find some day that California does sell votes for money, don't blame me. I am sure the politicians could have figure this out on their own.

This article talks about ways to help the economy.
What I find interesting, is that that in the very first paragraph it explains, unintentionally, why the government is not now and never has been interested in helping the economy.
The first paragraphs talks about the money that was stolen (taxed) from the people of the United States to bail out banks that deserved to fail. It then goes on to say that as long as some of the money that has been stolen (taxed) from the people has been returned to the government, that it is better for the government to waste those funds on some other pet project, rather than returning it to the people it was originally stolen (taxed) from.
In other words, the government should be under no obligation to use the funds for which they claim they were needed for the purpose they claimed they wanted it for.

New York Times Claims 200+ Casualties A Week Is Peaceful.
Holiday in Iraq Is Largely Peaceful
Yesterday 4 people were killed and 27 were wounded in a bomb blast in Iraq. In the prior week, dozens of people were killed and more than 150 were wounded by bombs. All this happened during the celebration of death of the grandson of Mohammed.
Maybe we can learn something from our Muslim brothers.
Maybe instead of celebrating Christ's birth, we should be celebrating his death.
Since the New York Times thinks that dozens of deaths and hundreds wounded in bomb blasts is relatively peaceful celebration, maybe we in America can find a relatively peaceful way to celebrate. You know, kill a Muslim for Christ.
At the moment, there are more Christians than Muslims. If we set up the appropriate training camps, I am sure that American suicide bombers can be much more effective than the Muslim suicide bombers. Christians in American do have better access to modern technology than the Muslims do. If the government would only get out of the way of the Americans who understand that the Muslim religion is a threat to all other religions, I am sure the American Public could come up with a solution.
Heck, it was only a short few hundred years ago that all the religions celebrated killing believers of other religiou. Even now, many religions (Muslims and others) still believe the best way to get into heaven is to kill as many infidels as possible.

If you can remember back to the 9/11 terrorist attacks, the terrorists were taking flying lessons, but were only interested in take offs, not on landings. Does that seem suspicious to you? Evidently the people in charge of security at airports don't think that is suspicious behavior.
Bruce Schneier, an author and security expert, was interviewed for this article, and he explained why the new security measures were as useless as the old security measures. "This is security theater," he said.
Even in the low tech world we live in, there are destructive devices that can be strapped to the body that will not show up on any kind of security scans.
I wonder what might work? Do you think a strip search all the passengers along with a body cavity search would work? That is what they do in American prisons, and the prisoners still find ways of making weapons and killing each other.

Evidently, back in 1966 politicians thought they weren't wasting enough taxpayer money, so they made working in the legislature a full time job. Now, after decades of spending every tax dollar collected, and borrowing against future tax dollars, the legislature has finally noticed they were short of money. But don't worry. They have a solution. Excessive taxes should probably solve the excessive spending problem.
Guess what? It didn't solve the problem. It turns out, as the taxes get higher, businesses and people flee the state, thus reducing the tax basis, and thus reducing the amount of taxes collected.

Evidently, back in 1966 politicians thought they weren't wasting enough taxpayer money, so they made working in the legislature a full time job. Now, after decades of spending every tax dollar collected, and borrowing against future tax dollars, the legislature has finally noticed they were short of money. But don't worry. They have a solution. Excessive taxes should probably solve the excessive spending problem.
Guess what? It didn't solve the problem. It turns out, as the taxes get higher, businesses and people flee the state, thus reducing the tax basis, and thus reducing the amount of taxes collected.

Like all government projects, the war on drugs has been an absolute and complete failure. It has provided a framework for the federal government to grow in size, and violate the rights that citizens used to have. And if you read Forbes magazine looking at the top billionaires, Mexican drug lord Joaquin "Shorty" Guzman is number 401 on the list of the most wealthy men on the planet.
So the next time any government official says we need to get tough on crime, tell them the only crimes worth fighting are the crimes committed by the politicians in Washington D.C. (District of Criminals) every time they pass a new law.

Upon hearing the news that someone on an international flight from Amsterdam to Detroit tried to set off an explosive device, Barack Hussein Obama immediately contacted his press department.

The federal government just announced that no matter how inefficient and corrupt Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac are, the people of this country will be required to support these organizations (through higher taxes). Did a Democrat finally grow a spine and decide to stand up for the American people? I would not have thought it possible. Maybe the rest of the Democrats couldn't come up with a bribe big enough to overcome his morals?

I guess I will never understand that the health care bill needed to be written behind closed doors so that politicians couldn't add their input to it. I guess I will never understand that the health care bill, once written, could not afford the time for politicians to read the bill before deciding if it was worth voting for. I guess I will never understand that now that a bill has passed the congress and the senate, the work to merge both bills together needs to be done behind closed doors. And I guess I will never understand that once everything gets worked out, the politicians won't have a chance to read the newly revised bill before voting on it.
I guess I am just not bright enough to understand the sleazy dirty game that politics has become in the United States of America.

Weighing Medical Costs of End-of-Life Care
To paraphrase Mark Twain, There are lies, damned lies and anything the government says.
Just like with global warming fraud, if you only count the numbers you like, and throw out the number you don't like, you can prove anything you want.
I took a poll of politicians recently asking when did you start lying:
5% said ever since they were born.
25% said they had to, to get elected.
65% said they had to, to stay in office.
5% said as the son of god, they were incapable of lying. No matter what they said, no matter how contradictory it sounded, it was the truth when they said it.
Keeping that in mind, it is easy to see how a government agency that wants to save money by not giving medical care to older sick people managed to come up with a survey that would prove their position.
Aren't you glad your government is looking to save money however it can.
Except for funding for pet projects, and except for allowing fraud and abuse, and except for bribing politicians to vote for bills that no one in their right mind should vote for, and except for any time a politician wants to hire a hooker, and except for doing anything to improve the lot of the citizens of this country.

I don't know about you, but I am always impressed when I see government corruption scale new heights.
As far as I am concerned, all government employees are goldbricking frauds and cheats or they would have been able to get jobs in the private sector. If that is the case, it is a miracle the auditors even reported $92 million of fraud in the system. Chances are, the amount of the fraud is much larger, but auditors were either fired if they were any good, or bribed if they were half bad to not report some of it. Even so, the auditors still managed to report $92 million of fraud.
What I find interesting, is there is rarely a day that goes by when you can't find a story about some government agency wasting millions of dollars or discovering fraudulent schemes totaling millions of dollars that has been running for years.
I wonder why private business doesn't have lots of big firms going out of business when major fraud happens? Oh, that's right. Most businesses care about what they are doing, and don't allow fraud like that to occur. And if it does happen, the people involved get prosecuted for a crime.
When fraud of this nature happens in a government agency, nobody is punished for wrongdoing. In fact, the agency that reported the fraud now has an excuse to ask for even more money because not all the money they received was spent correctly.
Please keep in mind that this article didn't mention that anyone was going to do anything about the situation. After all, if you haven't been arrested and prosecuted, then it can't be a serious problem.

But I suppose that is to be expected.

The rules changes require that all banks need larger reserves on hand. It is not possible to increase bank reserves by loaning out the reserves. Unlike the federal government which can simply lie about what they are doing, banks are held to a higher level of honesty. Unlike the federal government which can print money when they run short, small banks are not allowed to do that.

Schwarzenegger to seek federal help for California budget
Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger and the California legislature have decided that balancing the California State budget doesn't matter. California (like the rest of the world) has noticed that the federal government is willing to bail out a few special interest groups, like the wall street giants that are only capable of benefiting themselves. The State of California must have decided that they are too big to fail. The State of California must have decided they are worth bailing out.
The federal government has a recent history of giving money to failing businesses so that their regularly scheduled bonuses can get paid. None of these businesses that received bailouts were required to change their ways.
The State of California is unwilling to spend less than they steal (tax), and want to continue wasting money on all their pet projects. So maybe the State of California is right and California is too big to fail. So maybe the State of California does deserve the same sweetheart deal the wall street giants got, plenty of money with no strings attached.

Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger and the California legislature have decided that balancing the California State budget doesn't matter. California (like the rest of the world) has noticed that the federal government is willing to bail out a few special interest groups, like the wall street giants that are only capable of benefiting themselves. The State of California must have decided that they are too big to fail. The State of California must have decided they are worth bailing out.
The federal government has a recent history of giving money to failing businesses so that their regularly scheduled bonuses can get paid. None of these businesses that received bailouts were required to change their ways.
The State of California is unwilling to spend less than they steal (tax), and want to continue wasting money on all their pet projects. So maybe the State of California is right and California is too big to fail. So maybe the State of California does deserve the same sweetheart deal the wall street giants got, plenty of money with no strings attached.

While institutionalized, the child was described as having reactive detachment disorder, disruptive behavior disorder, major depressive disorder, post traumatic stress disorder and fetal alcohol syndrome.
How does an institution that is supposed to care for children, not notice something this major? Corruption? Incompetence? Criminal Neglect?
In any case, the child will soon be released from the mental institution where he has been under observation. The adoptive parents don't want the child back. They are afraid for their lives.
The states attitude is: we conned you into adopting the child, it is your problem. In fact, if you don't take the child back, we will throw you in jail.

Unfortunately, many people who used to believe that science was a process where truth was discovered, have found out otherwise. These days, science seems to only exist to prove as truth any lie a politician supports.
So what are we left with?
The only scientific studies that seem believable are on subjects so trivial that most people don't care about them. Or studies that seem to prove something that only a politician could dispute the truth of.
I believe that texting while driving is unsafe. I don't think any sane or ration person could believe otherwise. News stories like this are difficult to read without falling down laughing.
This particular story claims that one Democrat accepted a bribe to vote for the Health Care Deform Bill. They are talking like this is a bad thing. They are talking like they are offended by this. They are talking like no politician ever accepted a bribe.
What makes this so amusing, is that it is difficult to find a politician who hasn't accepted a bribe. In fact, I think it is safe to say that most politicians run for office on the assumption that they will be able to augment their earnings by accepting bribes and acting against the interests of the voters who elected them.
Keep in mind, that as a citizen, it is a crime to sell your vote.
However, it is not a crime for a politician who has been elected to tell the voters, screw you, I don't believe anything I said to get elected and I will work vigorously to oppose all ideals I previously claimed to support.
We have the best politicians money can buy. Unfortunately, the American public is not as organized as the special interest groups, so they can't afford to buy a politician to represent them.

Nelson Accused of Selling Vote on Health Bill for Nebraska Pay-Off
News stories like this are difficult to read without falling down laughing.
This particular story claims that one Democrat accepted a bribe to vote for the Health Care Deform Bill. They are talking like this is a bad thing. They are talking like they are offended by this. They are talking like no politician ever accepted a bribe.
What makes this so amusing, is that it is difficult to find a politician who hasn't accepted a bribe. In fact, I think it is safe to say that most politicians run for office on the assumption that they will be able to augment their earnings by accepting bribes and acting against the interests of the voters who elected them.
Keep in mind, that as a citizen, it is a crime to sell your vote.
However, it is not a crime for a politician who has been elected to tell the voters, screw you, I don't believe anything I said to get elected and I will work vigorously to oppose all ideals I previously claimed to support.
We have the best politicians money can buy. Unfortunately, the American public is not as organized as the special interest groups, so they can't afford to buy a politician to represent them.

Teachers: Touch A Child Inappropriately, Get Tenure In Los Angeles

Low bar for lifetime job in L.A. schools
The Los Angeles Unified School District has a plan to improve education. Give all employees raises. Teachers and administrators. Oh. And hire any incompetent hack who can manage to show up to collect a paycheck.
The Los Angeles Unified School District has screening and enforcement procedures that are so good, that a male teacher who inappropriately touched a female student while still on probation, was given tenure. Of course, after being notified multiple times over the years, the School District decided to try to fire that teacher. 7 years and $2 million after making that decision, the teacher is still on salary (although no longer teaching) and the School District is still no closer to firing this teacher.
Don't you wonder how much worse it would be if the School District didn't care about students? Don't you wonder if you could tell the difference?

This is proof positive that driving businesses out of the state with higher taxes and massive regulations, attacking job holders with higher taxes, encouraging homeless and jobless immigrants (legal and illegal), providing a substandard education to all (regardless of immigration status), ... are all having the desired effect.

Iran claims they will not shoot any missiles at the United States.
They will only shoot their nuclear missiles at any country that allows individuals to criticize Iranian leaders, or allows individuals to criticize Muslim terrorists, or any country that is not ruled by a Muslim leader.
The Ayatollah proclaimed his support for the Muslim leader of the United States and the DemonCrats who support him. He also issued death threats to any republicans who oppose Barack Hussein Obama.
So you can rest assured that Iran only has peaceful intentions for their nuclear bombs and their mid-range missiles.

California Plan To Reduce Unemployment Rate. Force All Job Seekers To Give Up Looking.

California's unemployment rate shrinks - but so does the number of jobs
Evidently, when enough people give up looking for work, this is considered a drop in the unemployment rate.
Isn't the government amazing when they come up with their calculations.
So, if ignoring people who have given up looking for work improves the unemployment rates, then I have a modest proposal. Why don't we force the few remaining California businesses to close or leave the state. Then all we need to do is keep going for a few years until all the unemployed have given up any hope of getting a job, and we will have reduced the unemployment to zero.
Of course, we will have millions on welfare, but they won't count against unemployment.
Unemployment problem solved.
Don't you just love government logic!
