Close the Schools?

Quick fix for deficit: Just close schools

This article was written by a couple of teachers. They conclude that once state sponsored education is gone, that people will miss it. Hardly unexpected.

However.

I think it would be the teachers who would be surprised that nobody misses the state sponsored institutions of learning. And that anyone who wants to learn will find a way to learn.

Like all global warming scientists and all politicians, the teachers that wrote this article manage to ignore the truth.

Like there are students who can not read or write English who are being admitted to college at the expense of those who can. Like there are students who can not add or subtract who are being admitted to college at the expense of those who can. Like in the Los Angeles area, it was determined that the graduating high school seniors exit test scores were too low, so they will stop having exit testing for high school seniors. Like schools adding intelligent design, and global warming to their curriculum. They might as well add reading entrails to the curriculum.

So, all in all, I think the dedicated student would get a better eduction if they didn't have to rely on a state institution that is more concerned with saving their bureaucracy than in teaching their students.
