Ships skirt Calif. coast to avoid pollution rules
California Air Resources Board rules that went into effect last summer mandate that ships within 24 miles of the coast burn cleaner fuel. As a result, ships are staying farther at sea so they can burn dirtier, cheaper fuel.
It looks like the C.A.R.B. rules are being very effective at destroying the California economy.
C.A.R.B. has managed to discourage commercial ships from stopping California ports. If C.A.R.B. can get a few more rules like this passed, then we can look forward to outlawing shipping into California ports entirely.
After C.A.R.B. has finished preventing any shipping from reaching any California port, then C.A.R.B. can more easily finish their work at destroying the rest of the California economy. I would suggest that C.A.R.B. can then start work on banning all gasoline powered vehicles. This is better than regulating business out of existence, as once it is illegal to use gasoline powered vehicles, it will no longer be possible for anyone to commute to work. Since California is a commuter state, this will effectively shut down most businesses. Not only that, it will prevent business from shipping in more products to be sold (food, ...).
After all, what business can survive if their customers can't drive to buy products, or the store can't have drivers bring in new products to sell?
At which point, C.A.R.B.'s goal of making California safe for the non-humans will have been achieved.
