California's attorney general is suing two former officials from Calpers, the nation's largest public pension fund, alleging that they took kickbacks in exchange for a piece of the fund's lucrative investment portfolio.

Why is the State of California upset that the managers of a public pension fund were working towards their retirement plan?

These two men were simply doing what they were paid to do. Planning their retirement. Of course they were not as careful as most politicians are in concealing their criminal activity when acting against the best interest of the people they were supposed to be serving. But isn't that what all politicians do? Accept bribes and payoffs to do the work of special interest groups against the interest of the voters who elected them. So they are being unfairly penalized for doing what comes naturally to the political crowd they work for.

But there is no need to worry. I am sure there are plenty of convicted white collar criminals in prison and unconvicted criminals in politics who could easily put forth the same amount of care and due diligence as this dynamic duo did. So their jobs and bribes are not in any danger.

In a new report out yesterday, the government's own internal watchdog took a close look at "efforts to quantify the economic effects of counterfeit and pirated goods." After examining all the data and consulting with numerous experts inside and outside of government, the Government Accountability Office concluded (PDF) that it is "difficult, if not impossible, to quantify the economy-wide impacts."

Gee. This is surprising. The government is once again caught lying to the public to defend the special interest groups that bribed the government to pass laws for the special interest groups.

Back in 1986, the rapacious movie and music industry decided that they needed more stringent laws to protect their excessive profits. They figured out that the best way to insure continued excessive profits, is to bribe senators and congressmen to pass legislation to protect their business model.

Since at that time, there was no problem with piracy, and no proof that a problem existed, the movie and music industry did what any good government agency would do. The movie and music industry lied. But the movie and music industry did a very bad job of lying. The movie and music industry didn't even bother making up phony studies. The movie and music industry just flat out lied about the consequences of piracy on the music and movie business. Maybe next time they should use the "Global Warming" scientists who also lie outrageously, but at least take the time to create phony reports that purport to show that research was actually done.

The government didn't care about the lies, because the only thing the government cares about is getting another excuse to increase the size of government. So the government spread these lies among the agencies that needed more ammunition for size increases.

Unfortunately, some misguided politicians who didn't realize how corrupt the government is, managed to get passed the "Freedom of Information Act". When private citizens questioned the piracy loss numbers, they kept requesting more and more information until the private citizens traced the fraudulent numbers back to their source. Which was made up numbers with no relationship to reality.

So all the government can do at this time is apologize for getting caught, and promise to lie more skillfully in the future.

Don't you just love the way the government lies to the public?

The government calculates the unemployment rate by the people who file for unemployment benefits. If you used to work as a highly paid skilled worker and you are now working as a fast food restaurant cook or cashier (even though you can't support yourself), you are no longer counted as unemployed. If you have given up hope and no longer look for work you are dropped from unemployment benefits and no longer counted as unemployed. If you are unemployed for too long and your benefits run out, the government no longer counts you as unemployed.

Thus the longer this great depression lasts, the more the unemployment rate drops. This gives the government the excuse it needs to claim that the economy is improving because the unemployment rate is dropping.

While on paper and in government statistics factories this may look good, I don't think this is the solution to unemployment that the average slave citizen of this country was hoping for.

The staggering amount of unfunded debt stands to crowd out funding for many popular programs. Reform will take something sadly lacking in the Legislature: political courage.

The criminal political class has plenty of courage. They just hate to waste it on political reform. They are happier using it to defraud the public. Which is why the political class never met a raise they didn't like. Which is why our political class is now paid more than double what the same position in private business is paid. Which is why the political class does half the work the same position in private business does.

The state of California's real unfunded pension debt clocks in at more than $500 billion, nearly eight times greater than officially reported.

The State of California has been ripping off the public for more than a decade. How has the State of California been doing this? They have been knuckling under to the demands of the unions for higher wages and retirement benefits, without having to pay anything extra into the retirement plans. Like any good criminal enterprise, the State of California has been keeping two sets of books. One set of books they display to the slaves citizens which shows what a good job the State of California has been doing in spending the tax money and balancing the budget. The other set of books shows how the underhanded tactics and the unfunded debt incurred by the State of California are sinking the State in a sea of debt.

What can we do about this? For the promises already made, nothing. They are contractual, and because that $500 billion of debt must be paid, retirement costs will rise dramatically no matter what we do. But we can reduce the sizes of promises made to new employees and require full and truthful disclosure so that pension debt can never again be hidden.

Our current education system is the laughing stock of the world. When the State of California (which has the highest paid teachers in the country) determined that less than 50% of the students graduate with the ability to read and write, the State of California decided to stop giving exit exams that test the level of learning of graduates.

Our current criminal justice system is the laughing stock of the world. We don't have enough money to keep rapist and serial killers in prison. So we continue to pass more laws to jail jaywalkers and marijuana smokers and let the rapists and serial killers out of jail early without any oversight. And when the state provides oversight of rapists, they manage to ignore someone who raped and held a victim captive for almost 20 years.

So when I suggest that the State of California simply cancel all contracts, fire everyone, and close their doors, we will actually be no worse off than we are already. We would end up better off, because we could start over again, maybe with even less corruption than before.

There is no way that private enterprise can compete with the government. Private enterprise must run at a profit or go out of business. The government never spends less than it collects. So when the government regulates what private businesses can pay their workers, and what private businesses can pay for supplies and what private businesses can charge for their services, the government has taken over health care.

How do you define jobs? Are jobs created by private enterprise and used to create products that consumers want? Or are jobs government giveaways paid for by taxes and provide services that most people wouldn't want at any price?

How do you define the economy? Is it private businesses that sell a product or service to other individuals or businesses? Or is it a government service paid for by all people (taxes) but only used by some people?

If we had an honest money supply (we don't) and an honest government (we don't), there would be a limited supply of money. All the anecdotal stories that Barack Hussein Obama uses in his speeches (which he claims to have heard all across the country) are all lies made up for him by his maximum wage sycophants and bear as much relation to the truth as the "Student Loan Overhaul" does to health care. Which was probably why the "Student Loan Overhaul" was unnaturally jammed into the Health Care Deform bill.

Obama's speech came just hours after Democratic leaders decided to abandon the controversial legislative mechanism know as "deem and pass" to avoid a direct vote on the health care legislation.

Evidently, even as evil and stupid as the typical bribe taking democratic politicians are, they managed to figure out that if they subvert the constitution of the United States to get around having to vote for the Health Care Deform Bill, they would likely face a backlash that they might not like.

"We have been debating health care for decades," Obama said. "It has now been debated for a year. It is in your hands. It is time to pass health care for Americans and I am confident that you are going to do it tomorrow."

Too bad there is no health care bill to vote on.

There is only the Health Care Deform bill. The Health Care Deform bill will cause massive increase in taxes. The Health Care Deform bill won't provide any benefits to the uninsured until years after Barack Hussein Obama is thrown out of office. The Health Care Deform bill will cause all the insurance companies to stop issuing new health insurance policies. The Health Care Deform bill cause doctors to stop accepting clients that can't actually pay for their health care (the doctors will stop accepting health insurance clients). And if the insurance companies are actually held to the terms of the Health Care Deform bill, this will cause all the insurance companies to face bankruptcy. Which will force the federal company to become the only health insurance company in the United States.

One undecided congressman said Friday that he refused to answer a phone call from the White House until he finalized his voting decision.

That makes sense. Based on the size of the bribes the that were handed out to vote for this obamanation last time, all the congressmen who haven't decided which way to vote, are busy contemplating how much of a bribe they will require to act against their better judgement, to act against their constituents and to act against the will of the American people.

"Not only does it reduce the deficit, we pay for it responsibly in ways that the other side of the aisle -- that talks about fiscal responsibility but doesn't seem to be able to walk the walk -- can't claim when it comes to their prescription drug bill," Obama said Saturday in a jab at Republicans.

Not only does it turn my stomach to read and hear the lies that Barack Hussein Obama has been spouting about the Health Care Deform bill, for a while it looked like Barack Hussein Obama had managed to convince most of the democratic congressmen to subvert the constitution and pretend they had passed the health care bill as part of the pork barrel products they wanted to include in this bill that the senate didn't want to include.

I am amazed that the mass media lets Barack Hussein Obama get away claiming that the Health Care Deform bill is fiscally responsible. What do you call a bill that raises taxes now, but benefits won't start for years (if ever)? Would you call it a balanced budget bill that claims it will spend trillions covering expenses for health care (and a whole new bureaucracy), but will only raise billions from the new taxes it imposes? What do you call a bill that claims to reign in the cost of insurance, but does nothing to prevent the rise of cost of medical care? Fraud is the nicest word that comes to mind.

"We are making sure that the system of private insurance works for ordinary families," he (Obama) said, calling the legislation a "patient's bill of rights on steroids" and "the toughest insurance reform in history."

Calling the Health Card Deform bill insurance reform is FRAUD on a grand scale.

Do you know why insurance rates are going up? Insurance rates are going up because the cost of medical care is going up. Every time any doctor is sued for malpractice and loses, the insurance rates of all the doctors raises. Every time the government steps into the health care industry with more regulation, the cost of medical care skyrockets. Any time the government pays for the actual health care (medical, medicare, ...), the time and cost to prepare the paperwork for reimbursement, and the delay in collecting whatever small pittance the government believes is appropriate, cost the doctor money.

It doesn't take a 2,000 or 3,000 page bill to reform the industry. It does take that (and more) for the government to take over the health care industry.

One year into its promise of greater government transparency, the Obama administration is more often citing exceptions to the nation's open records law to withhold federal records even as the number of requests for information decline, according to a review by The Associated Press of agency audits about the Freedom of Information Act.

Barack Hussein Obama's version of "open and transparent" looks a LOT like "closed and opaque".

Which is not surprising. Barack Hussein Obama is the walking and talking embodiment of doublespeak. As the liar-in-chief, Barack Hussein Obama has no choice. As Barack Hussein Obama continues his war on capitalism and freedom, he must necessarily lie about what he is doing. And if follows, that if he is lying about everything he is doing, he must do all in his power to hide the details of exactly what it is he is doing. Otherwise, any of the democrats who are supporting any of his bills (written in the back room and rushed through the legislature before any other politician has a chance to read and understand them) would likely have no choice but to vote against the liar-in-chief. But as long as the mass media is the public relations arm of the Red White House are able to confuse the enemy (the public) then Barack Hussein Obama feels secure to continue his attack on freedom and capitalism and America.

The administration has stalled even over records about its own efforts to be more transparent. The AP is still waiting—after nearly three months—for records it requested about the White House's "Open Government Directive," rules it issued in December directing every agency to take immediate, specific steps to open their operations up to the public.

As an example of how paranoid Barack Hussein Obama is of getting caught in a lie, his administration is even reluctant to release the details of his "open and transparent" policy.

Don't you know yet, that democracy can't work if the public can see what the politicians are doing. Why do you think there are so many back room deals, and under the table payoffs of politicians. How can a politician possibly put his mistress on the payroll if there is public (and his wife's) scrutiny of his actions? How can a politician possibly visit his mistress in a foreign country if the public (and his wife) knows what he is doing? How can a politician accept a bribe from an organization that he is supposed to be regulating if the public can possibly find out about it.

Why, politicians might be forced to be honest and actually do something for the people who voted for them, rather than the special interests that bribed them before the election with campaign contributions and after the election with additional payoffs.
