As this article goes on to explain, the difference between rolling tobacco and pipe tobacco is about $21.00 per pound in taxes. Since business is never as stupid or corrupt as politicians, rolling tobacco is being relabeled as pipe tobacco. The federal government which so carefully writes these bills, and monitors their effect, never noticed the annual loss of $250 million of tax revenue. The state of Oregon, not being quite as incompetent and corrupt as the federal government did notice that the new federal law caused a major decrease in tax revenue.

Fortunately for the tobacco industry, federal politicians who are always willing to rush to pass poorly written laws, will never rush to fix poorly written laws.

California advances grocery store plastic bag ban

The California Assembly on Wednesday approved a bill that would ban stores from providing plastic bags, and require them to charge for paper ones. Similar bans are in place in China and Bangladesh.

California legislators are determined to win Obama's "Race To The Bottom".

Their plan to win is showing great promise. First off, California legislators are refusing to balance the budget, which is currently short by about $20 billion short. By not balancing the budget, the California legislators are insuring that government employees will go on strike to collect their wages. This will also help the California economy by forcing business that supply the state with goods and services to go bankrupt when they can't pay their bills because California won't pay it's bills.

California legislators plans to balance the budget are equally farsighted. They are planning on selling off public buildings as well as parks and recreational facilities to real estate developers. I am eagerly looking forward to the time when the all government offices are shut down and government employees evicted when the State of California can't make the rent payments.

Alternative plans to win the "Race To The Bottom" include innovative ways to deal with the overcrowding in prisons. By increasing arrests for misdemeanors, the overcrowding problem is made worse. The solution that California legislators have come up with is to provide early release for violent felons and not provide parole services for the early releases. Which is not as bad as you would think. After all, rapist kidnappers can easily harbor kidnap victims for 20 or more years while under supervision and not get noticed.

One plan that the California legislators are contemplating, is doubling or tripling the tax rates on any businesses that haven't yet failed and on legal citizens that haven't yet declared bankruptcy. Adding more people to the welfare and unemployment rolls is always good for a federal bailout. If increasing the taxes is not enough, making California a magnet state for unemployed and alien invaders is destined to overwhelm the welfare and unemployment rolls, thus forcing the federal government to give California an even larger bailout.

An of course the one plan that all legislators always approve of. Giving themselves raises.

As you can see, the California legislators have the not balancing the budget problem well in hand. So it makes sense that the California legislators move on to other important issues. Like ignoring the failing economy. But how will the California legislators deflect attention from their unwillingness to balance the budget and save the economy?

Easy. The California legislators will work on legislation that is near and dear to the "green party" and other socialist groups. Like whether grocery stores should use paper or plastic bags. Obviously this is a much more important issue than balancing the budget, saving the economy, or letting violent felons out of prison early.

There are a few facts that we should keep in mind while considering this problem (evidently facts that politicians are incapable of considering).

California (and the United States) is in the middle of the "great depression". The State of California doesn't have enough money to keep violent felons in jail. As part of their balance the budget, California is setting free violent felons to terrorize the citizens into paying higher taxes. The unemployment rate is higher than 10%. If you count the underemployed and the unemployed so long they no longer look for work or no longer get unemployment benefits, the unemployment rate is higher than 20%.

So in an effort to get young students to stop missing school, single parents will be fined $2,000 that they don't have. How you may ask, will this help young students to stop missing school?

Placing a large fine on someone who already is having problems paying their monthly bills will help convince the parent to stop working and go on government assistance. If you have no job, then you have no money for the government to steal with their higher fines, fees, taxes, ... This is part of the government's plan to make everyone a criminal, and thus to assess fines, fees, taxes to help balance the budget.

So in an effort to get young students to stop missing school, single parents will be throw in prison. How you may ask, will this help young students to stop missing school?

While the parent has been rotting in prison for a year, the child or children have been placed in foster care. Children in the foster care system have a higher than average death rate then children outside the foster care system. So it is possible that if more children die, the statistics for absenteeism will be lower because of the fewer number of children still alive to attend school.

If the child or children are not killed by the foster care system, then at the very least they will have been traumatized so much that they are more likely to become criminals. And thus the overburdened state, will have even more crime to deal with then they are currently willing to deal with.

What do you think will happen when the parent, in a single parent home is thrown in prison for a year?

After rotting in prison for a year, the parent is likely to be unemployed, and because of the "great depression" unemployable. So they will now go on welfare or some other assistance program paid for by the dwindling number of employed people.

And there you have it. The forward thinking that has made the Soviet Union, Cuba, North Korea the great countries that they have become.

Gee. This is surprising. The government is once again caught lying to the public to defend the special interest groups that bribed the government to pass laws for the special interest groups.

Back in 1986, the rapacious movie and music industry decided that they needed more stringent laws to protect their excessive profits. They figured out that the best way to insure continued excessive profits, is to bribe senators and congressmen to pass legislation to protect their business model.

Since at that time, there was no problem with piracy, and no proof that a problem existed, the movie and music industry did what any good government agency would do. The movie and music industry lied. But the movie and music industry did a very bad job of lying. The movie and music industry didn't even bother making up phony studies. The movie and music industry just flat out lied about the consequences of piracy on the music and movie business. Maybe next time they should use the "Global Warming" scientists who also lie outrageously, but at least take the time to create phony reports that purport to show that research was actually done.

The government didn't care about the lies, because the only thing the government cares about is getting another excuse to increase the size of government. So the government spread these lies among the agencies that needed more ammunition for size increases.

Unfortunately, some misguided politicians who didn't realize how corrupt the government is, managed to get passed the "Freedom of Information Act". When private citizens questioned the piracy loss numbers, they kept requesting more and more information until the private citizens traced the fraudulent numbers back to their source. Which was made up numbers with no relationship to reality.

So all the government can do at this time is apologize for getting caught, and promise to lie more skillfully in the future.

He managed to surreptitiously record his conversations with TSA officers on a cell phone. The audio is infuriating.

The city council can't understand how an organization that is supposed to do good, can do so bad. Social Service workers who were notified by the school that there were problems did their typical investigation. The Social Service workers made an appointment with the parents. The parents weren't there. The Social Service Workers never bothered with any kind of followup appointment. The city council is ordering a whitewash investigation into this situation. The city council needs to absolve themselves of their responsibility in allowing this to happen. Otherwise, the city council, and their department of Social Services won't be allowed to let this happen again. And again. And again.

This is how government departments work well together. One department doesn't do the work they are paid to do. Another department whitewashes the first department for their incompetence. Both departments keep all their employees and funding. A win-win situation for the government.

Congressman Hank Johnson worried Guam may tip over (video)

Oh no! Guam may tip over and capsize, according to U.S. Rep. Hank Johnson (D-GA). At a House Armed Services Committee meeting last week, Johnson was questioning Robert Willard, commander of the United States Pacific fleet about what effect the influx of Marines and their families would have on Guam.

I finally understand why the government demands exclusive control of mismanagement of the education system. If we didn't allow students who couldn't read or write or think to get diplomas, where would the next generation of politicians come from?

This explains a lot of things. Like why Barack Hussein Obama got elected president. Like why the Health Care Deform bill was passed. Like why corruption and incompetence is rewarded in the halls of congress and punished every where else.

After seeing and hearing a news story like this, I am concerned that politicians may decide that if they die in office, that is no reason not to let them continue representing their constituents and collecting their pay and retirement benefits. Whether that means the dead politicians will be representing their living or their dead constituents hardly matters. No politician has ever worked for the benefit of the people that voted him into office or for the benefit of the city or state or country he is supposed to represent. However, once a politician is dead, they will finally be able to follow the famous words "first do no harm".

Dodd's Proposed Wall Street Rules Would Toughen Scrutiny of Banks

The political battle over rewriting the rules of Wall Street will intensify Monday when Senate Banking Committee Chairman Christopher Dodd is expected to introduce legislation tougher on financial companies than was expected just a few weeks ago.

The shift follows a push from the Obama administration, which sees a political advantage in pushing legislation taking aim at Wall Street.

Yup. That is the key to the Barack Hussein Obama administration. Is there any political gain? If so, go for it. If not, ignore it (I guess there is no political advantage for reducing unemployment or fixing the economy). Although Barack Hussein Obama's idea of what political advantage is, is quite different from what anyone except another socialist would think.

Of course this new legislation will be as worthless as all the other legislation that the typical politician promotes. I am sure there will be plenty of bribes in there to convince the politicians to vote for it. And I am sure there are no serious penalties if any criminal wrongdoing is detected. After all, who do you think contributes to the politicians election campaigns? What politician would ever pass a law that would discourage a political contribution his campaign?

Keep in mind, it was claimed that the S.E.C. was an organization that was set up to protect the public from fraudulent dealings on Wall Street. The S.E.C. seems to be doing a good job of protecting Wall Street from the investors who get ripped off with amazing regularity. The S.E.C. regulators were unable to find any wrong doing with Bernard Madoff, who had been defrauding the public for decades. Even insiders reporting the problem to the S.E.C. couldn't get the S.E.C. to do anything about the problem. Until the problem got so big that even a blind non-governmental auditor could spot the problem.

Also keep in mind that the banking meltdown was caused by government interference in the first place. The federal government ordered the banks to make loans to minority people who couldn't afford to make payments on their home loans. The government then allowed the banks to try to peddle off these tainted home loans. Nothing in the new legislation would prevent this from happening again. And again. And again. As long as the government has the ability to tell private businesses what they can and can not do, this kind of economic collapse will continue happening until there is no economy left to collapse.

So you can rest assured that this bill won't change anything at all in the way that Wall Street bribes the politicians. And the way the politicians respond to incompetence and corruption by the government watchdogs.

FHA challenged on projected risk to taxpayers

The Federal Housing Administration will need taxpayer money because it failed to properly project how borrowers with FHA-backed loans are affected by job losses and diminished equity in their homes, New York University professor Andrew Caplin told a House panel Thursday.

Really?

I wonder what the F.H.A. did wrong? Could it be that the F.H.A. based their estimates on false assumptions? Could it be that the F.H.A. drank the kool-aid and believed every lie that the Barack Hussein Obama administration spewed forth? Like the economy had been saved? Like the great depression had ended? Like the recovery had begun? If so, it is understandable how all their estimates would be wrong. However, what is NOT understandable, is why the F.H.A. didn't open their eyes to see what was happening around them, and then come up with a more accurate estimate.

This is your tax dollars hardly at work.

Does the government hate the slaves citizens? Why does government have such horrible employment contracts that they need to fire everybody who works 40 hour weeks and then rehire them to work 37.5 hour weeks?

Is this the kind of flexibility and long term planning that you want to see managing your health care?
