We Don't Need No Education.

Education: Too Important for a Government Monopoly
When The Washington Post asked George Parker, head of the Washington, D.C., teachers union, about the voucher program there, he said: "Parents are voting with their feet. ... As kids continue leaving the system, we will lose teachers. Our very survival depends on having kids in D.C. schools so we'll have teachers to represent."

Which pretty much says it all. All the teachers are concerned with is their job. Which is obvious to any one who looks at the decades of incompetence and mismanagement in the school system.

Fewer and fewer students graduate each semester. The students that do graduate are less capable than the prior students. With the "No moron left behind" and other government polices designed to move students through the system, the emphasis on learning has fallen by the wayside. At this point in time, the colleges are so desperate to prove they are not racist, they are admitting students who can't read and write in any language. While this kind of education is adequate for a third world country (which we are rapidly becoming), it is completely inadequate for a high tech culture (which we are devolving from).

Is it any wonder that our current crop of politicians are uneducated incompetent idiots who pander to the lowest common denominator? After all, they have had the benefits of the best education (which is not very good) that government bureaucrats are capable of providing.
