Unlearned Lessons
Last week, the Newark Star-Ledger reported that New Jersey lost $70 billion in wealth over the past five years. The reason? Affluent people have moved to states with a lower tax rate or no income tax at all.
How horrible. Can you believe it? People don't like paying taxes. And the people who do not like paying taxes (and have money) can move to someplace where the taxes are lower. This is unamerican. This is unfair to the poor.
In this nanny / welfare country of ours, you are supposed to be penalized for being a success, and rewarded for being a failure.
In this land of freedom and opportunity we need more laws to make it illegal for people with wealth to leave states with higher taxes for states with lower taxes.
How can states that want to be magnet states for unemployed afford to keep paying out vast quantities of money, if the wealthy flee at their soonest opportunity?
You think you're joking??

Fortunately this insane initiative didn't qualify for the ballot, or the idiots in CA would probably have passed it. After all, they'd just outlawed fresh eggs.
