AP Exclusive: Calif lawmakers fail to report gifts
24 of the 80 Assembly members and 14 of the 40 state senators did not report receiving gifts (bribes). The fines for a politician not reporting a bribe can be up to $5,000. I am not sure how the politicians determine what to fine themselves for breaking the law. But if the fine can be up to $5,000, then the bribers need to start increasing the value of the bribe.
Otherwise, you are likely to see the following headline.
Politicians in California go on strike for higher bribes!
Aren't you glad that politicians are not seriously punished for breaking the law?
