The senate needs 60 votes to get the Health Care Deform bill passed. Like any sane person, Democratic Senator Ben Nelson had problems with some of the content of the Health Care Deform bill. His sleazy Democratic buddies thought that bribing Democratic Senator Ben Nelson would get his vote. The sleazy politicians offered to pay the state portion of the additional medicare expense for the state of Nebraska FOREVER! What politician could turn down a bribe of that magnitude.

What Senator Ben Nelson didn't count on is the growing public disgust with the president, with the democrats and with the Health Care Deform bill. So when the Republicans (were they jealous they didn't get a similar bribe) started publicizing the bribe, all Senator Ben Nelson could do was pretend that he was an idiot, and he had no idea what was going on. Who could possibly think that an incredible subsidy for 1 state out of 50 might be misunderstood as a bribe for a vote?

After all, there are plenty of other reprehensible passages in the thousands of pages of the Health Care Deform Bill. Why would anyone notice, much less single out that particular passage?
