Solar showdown in Calif. tortoises' desert home
Who do the environmentalists hate the most? The green unfriendly energy producers or the green friendly energy producers? Judging from this news story, the environmentalists hate both equally.
Keep in mind that ALL green projects are economically unsound. They are not profitable. ALL are subsidized by the government. With out the subsidy (bailout) none would exist.
So what happens when a green energy company wants to build a solar energy complex in the middle of the desert? The environmentalists find a species that they can claim would be harmed by this. In this case, they claim there are 24 rare tortoises who's lives would be disrupted and harmed by this.
Federal and state environmentalists have determined that to save and relocate the 24 rare tortoises, would cost the energy company $25 million.
I guess the environmentalists would prefer to save the lives of 24 rare tortoises than install a green energy producer which provide energy for 142,000 homes per year (and thus reduce the amount of pollutants otherwise generated).
