A Crime Theory Demolished
Back in the 1960s, some government thinkers decided that the cause of crime is poverty. So if poverty was the problem, then welfare was the solution. So lets give lots of money to poor people.
50 years later this theory is still supported by government thinkers. Fortunately government thinkers can be 100% wrong and still be considered experts. It turns out that the war on poverty has been effective as the current war on unemployment and the war on homelessness and the war on drugs and the war on political corruption and the war on ...
During the first great depression (the 1930's) and the current great depression, statistics showed that crime was going down.
Don't worry, there has NEVER been a government agency that has been required to show that any of their actions have actually contributed to any progress towards their stated goal. Or that their goal was even achievable by their agency.
