Police may scrap entrance exam
Chicago is facing a tough problem.
It seems that there are no minority members who are actually qualified to be police who are interested in becoming police.
Due to the discrimination against white people policy currently in place, this is considered unacceptable.
There are however, unqualified minority applicants who are interested in becoming police.
The national educational policy of no moron left behind seems to be causing some of the problems for the lack of qualified applicants. One of the requirements to become a police officer in Chicago is the ability to read. And requiring 60 units of college credits was thought a good way to insure this. However, it seems that it is currently possible to get 60 units of college credit without being able to read. The solution is simple, drop the ability to read as a requirement to becoming a police officer. Chicago can then hire non-police personnel to read anything the officer needs to know (like street signs, booking forms, ...). This will also serve a dual purpose, as now 2 people will be required to do a single job, thus boosting employment.
If one of the prerequisites of becoming a police officer is being an honorable or moral person, that requirement could also be thrown out. Chicago practically invented corrupt politics. If politicians are allowed to accept bribes and get away with other criminal acts, then why can't police be allowed the same opportunities.
Once you do away with the morals clause, then there is no limit to the amount of applicants you could get for police officers. You could set up police recruiting stations in jails and prisons. You could set up in various gang headquarters. You could even set up recruiting stations in the state legislature.
Problem solved.
