Saturday mail may soon be a memory
Postal Service management says none of the agency's 600,000 workers will lose jobs as a result of the changes. Instead, workers who deliver mail on Saturdays would be shuffled to positions where they're most needed. Although some post offices may close elsewhere as part of the cost cutting, none of the 308 post offices in the Houston area is slated to close, said local Postal Service spokeswoman Dionne Montague, who added that some employees may see reductions in overtime hours.
The U.S.Post Awful is unable to deliver the mail for the costs that they charge for mail delivery.
So, in an effort to brainwash the public into thinking they are doing something, the U.S.Post Awful will do nothing to cut the cost of their massive inefficient organization, they will simply do less work than before. How doing less work, but not otherwise cutting staff or other expenses is supposed to make the U.S.Post Awful more profitable is not something that is easily explained to anyone other that a government economist. Fortunately there are plenty of economists on the federal payroll to help explain how good is bad, right is wrong, and the budget can be balanced by collecting less taxes but paying out more benefits.
Maybe the federal government should subcontract to (and allow) the other package delivery services (the U.S.Post Awful has a monopoly, so it is illegal for anyone else to deliver mail) so that we could keep Saturday delivery, and still reduce costs for the U.S.Post Awful.
