Why Are Extremist Militia Groups Growing in the U.S.?
When yahoo.com reprinted the time.com news article, why did yahoo.com intentionally gave the story a misleading title?
Anyone who clicked on the yahoo.com front page headline link of this story wanting to find out more about an increasing number of extremist militia groups would be greatly disappointed to find out that is NOT what this article is about. This actual article is simply the profile of one extremist militia group.
The fact that the headline doesn't really have much to do with the news article should not be surprising.
The function of news organizations today is no longer to educate the populace about what is happening in the world. The function of news organizations is now to entertain and distract the populace from what is actually happening in the world. The function of news organizations is now to spread lies, rumors and innuendo in support of the lies, rumors and innuendo spewed forth by the immoral, unethical criminal class that currently has a stranglehold over the government.
When the thirteen colonies rebelled from England a few hundred years ago, the colonists had more freedom than we do today. Even back then, the majority of people were willing to put up with whatever repressive laws and taxes the government enacted. However, enough people were willing to die to preserve freedom and prosperity for themselves and their progeny that the colonies did win their freedom. The colonists were able to create a country, that for a short time, did allow all people freedom to live their lives their own way.
Have we reached the point where it is necessary to use our second amendment rights to fight against a repressive government?

Actually, the function of news organizations is to collect eyeballs to sell to their advertisers. YOU, the viewer, are the product that they SELL.
ReplyDeleteDull boring facts, like that the crime rate has been dropping for two decades, or that airplanes rarely crash, or that terrorism is rare and difficult to pull off and therefore usually fails to damage anything, do not collect many eyeballs. Sensationalism and fearmongering are much better for the purpose. If that means accurate reporting goes the way of the dodo, oh well!! It keeps people with a journalism degree off the streets (and perhaps out of public office).
