Although details of their blueprint were not released, Graham said the elements included tougher border security, a program to admit temporary immigrant workers and a biometric Social Security card that would prevent people here illegally from getting jobs.

I wonder what the tougher border security can be?

The government has already said that they don't want fences. The government has already said that they don't want more guards. So what other security measures are left?

I wonder what program the government will come up with that could be less effective than the current program to bring in illegal alien workers?

The current free market system seems to be able to bring in more than enough illegal aliens as temporary workers. But I guess there is a law against any useless bill not having a lot of useless provisions. And any useless bill must create a useless agency with an unlimited lifespan and an unlimited budget for doing something that is already being done.

I wonder what a biometric Social Security card can do that the current non-biometric social security cards aren't doing? Other than forcing the criminals who provide fake social security cards to spend more money on creating more expensive fake social security cards.

The government has already said that illegal aliens play an important part in the economy of the United States. The government database that employers are supposed to use to verify status of employees is wrong more than 50% of the time. So how is wasting a lot more money on a much more expensive social security card supposed to change that?

Something the government hasn't thought of?

It sounds nice that the government wants to prevent illegal aliens from getting jobs. But at least if illegal aliens have jobs, they are actually earning money, from which taxes are withheld. If illegal aliens are prevented from getting jobs, all they can do is collect their welfare checks and send their children to public schools. As long as the government isn't interested in deporting illegal immigrants, then why not let them get jobs and pay taxes out of their own money?
