Obama says home-retrofitting plan would save energy, create jobs
Barack Hussein Obama says many things. However, the one thing Barack Hussein Obama is primarily known for, is lying to the public.
Home-retrofitting might save energy. Home-retrofitting might temporarily boost temporary employment. However, home-retrofitting assumes that people have money to spend. Home-retrofitting assumes people still expect to own their home for the next few years. Currently 25% (or more) of the people who owe money on their homes are expecting to lose their homes in the next few years. Unemployment is still on the rise. At this point, anybody with a job and money are planning on how to survive if they can't keep their job. They are looking to dump the overly mortgaged and worthless home for a cheaper apartment they can actually afford. So why spend money on something you will probably lose in the next few years.
Unlike the federal government, people can't print money when they run out. Most banks (that are too small to care about-not too big to fail) can't afford to loan money to anyone who may lose their job in the next six months (which is anyone who has a job). So like the job hiring plan currently being worked on, which hopes to create jobs by having failing businesses hire more people, the "cash for caulkers" is just as likely to fail to save the economy as everything else the government has done since it created the failing economy in the first place.
