Red Hat Chief Says Demand for Company’s Software Is Rebounding
Red Hat executives see additional sales of their product as proof of economic recovery.
I see people buying Linux software that can be installed on thousands of computers for no additional cost as proof that no economic recovery is in sight. With Linux software you have the option of writing all your own software, and knowing it will work. With Linux software you have the option of using other already existing software that is available for free download. With Linux software you no longer have to worry about the software police invading your business looking for software pirates. With Linux software you don't need to worry about an update that will cripple your computer system. With Linux software you are less likely to be attacked by a virus.
While I am happy to see higher Red Hat Linux sales, I don't believe it is a sign of an economic recovery. I see it more as an appreciation of the A.B.M. (Anything But Microsoft) crowd.
